There are two engine choices on the new Toyota Tundra. You can choose a gasoline-only engine that is twin-turbocharged to get 389 horsepower. The hybrid powertrain also has a twin-turbocharged V6 engine that creates 437 horsepower paired with a rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. The rear-wheel driveline has rear coil springs that provide a quieter ride with better road handling than leaf-spring suspension.
The new Toyota Tundra can tow up to 12,000 pounds. The towing and hauling capacities depend upon the engine configuration and whether it is a four-wheel drive or two-wheel drive model. When you are hauling a load in the truck bed, the air suspension automatically dials in the right amount of lift for the load. The 10-speed automatic transmission has a tow/haul drive mode for better handling under load.
The TRD Pro and TRD Off-Road Packages have crawl control that lets you drive at one of five low speeds over obstructions, like rocks, with improves safety. Five terrain modes to choose from in the four-wheel drive versions-Mud, Sand, Rock, and Mogul-get you the most traction, regardless of the terrain.
