The Toyota Tacoma vs. the Toyota Tundra
- Design. The Toyota Tacoma is a light-duty truck that's smaller than the heavy-duty Toyota Tundra. As such, the Tundra has a curb weight that comes in at 5,300 pounds, while the Tacoma is around 4,000 pounds. The Tundra also has a higher ground clearance, measuring more than 10 inches off the ground, while the Tacoma is about 9.4 inches up. Plus, when it comes to designing your specific pickup truck, the Tacoma is available in two cab styles, the access cab and the double cab with smaller backseat, while the Tundra has two cab styles available that are different, offering an extra-large crew cab and a double cab as its options.
- Performance. As the larger pickup, the Toyota Tundra has a stronger engine under its hood than the Tacoma. However, the Tacoma allows you a choice, while the Tundra does not. In fact, while the Tundra has just one engine available, a nice V8 worth 381 horsepower, the Tacoma allows you to choose between either a four-cylinder engine or a V6.
- Utility. As the more-powerful pickup truck option, the available Toyota Tundra models we have in stock have more to offer London, KY, and Richmond, KY drivers in terms of utility. The Toyota Tundra has a towing capacity of around 10,000 pounds and a payload capacity of 1,600 pounds, while the Tacoma tows around 6,000 pounds and hauls around 1,500 pounds.
- Safety features. Like other Toyota models in the lineup, both our Tundra and available Tacoma trucks all come standard with a slew of the latest safety features available, including forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure alert, automatic high beam control, and adaptive cruise control.
